This stunning rectangle shaped mother of pearl shell pendant measures 4 x 3cm and has a fabulous silver koru with hammered detailing.
Mother of pearl shell is the common name for iridescent nacre.Nacre is a blend of minerals that oysters and other mollusks secrete and deposit inside their shells. These secretions coat and protect their bodies from parasites and foreign objects.
Although mother of pearl shell appears white, when it moves and the light reflects on it, it picks up pinks and mauves, even shades of the palest green. There is a protective layer of resin on the back of the shell.
The pendant can be worn either with the koru facing or you can wear it reversed it for a completely plain look.
