NZ greenstone Toki pendant
Pounamu is the name for NZ greenstone and each piece of this stunning stone is unique with many shades of green from quite pale through to deep forest green. When held to the light you can see the inclusions that the presence of other minerals give the greenstone.
This Toki or adze pendant has been expertly carved, retaining it's classic shape, narrower at the top and then widening out to the sharper part of the adze. It has notches carved in the top of the stone to allow the black adjustable cord to be woven against the stone to hold it secure.
The Toki symbolises strength and courage and can assist with making the path in life a little clearer. The pendant comes in a little woven kete as seen in the photos. Due to the nature of the natural NZ greenstone each pendant may be slightly different with slight differences in colour.
The Toki measures 4.35cms in total length and is 15mm widening to 20mm in width. The waxed black cord is 65cms at the longest length and is fully adjustable. I have added a photo of the Toki pendant next to a NZ $1 coin to give a better idea of size.
