I give to you a golden ring.
The most precious metal symbolises that your love is the most precious element in my life.
The ring has no beginning and no end - symbolising our love will never cease.
I place it on your finger as a visible sign of the vows which have made us husband and wife.
To-Do List for Your Wedding Bands
Often the detailed planning involved with a wedding somehow overlooks the rings!
Obviously you need a ring but it is easy to become consumed with finding the perfect venue, the perfect wedding gown, celebrant, photographer etc - but what about the wedding rings?
Follow this step by step to-do list for a stress free plan for the dream rings.
One year before the big day
Start window shopping in jeweller shops and looking through bridal magazines for pictures of weddings rings. Do you want to buy 'off -the-shelf' or have your ring made exclusively for you? Talk to jewellers to get a feel for what you want.
- Keep a notebook and write down the things that you like about any of the rings you see.
- Talk with each other regarding rings. Are you both going to wear one?
- Think about what you would like the ring to be made of. Do you like yellow gold or white gold? Platinum? A modern alternative is palladium - it has similar properties to platinum but the price tag is more like 9ct gold, so a much more affordable metal to use.
- Do you want matching his and hers bands?Diamonds?
Six months before the big day
- Meet with the jeweller of your choice to discuss the ring of your dreams.
- Decide on the metal you want the ring made from, and whether you want plain bands or with stones.
- Have your finger sized, get the design drawn up and an accurate quote.
Three months before the big day
- Pay the deposit to your jeweller and give the go ahead to start making the rings - this allows plenty of time to get the rings valued, plus allows for final fittings.
- Think about how you will present your rings at the wedding. Will you use a Ring Cushion? Ring Box? Page Boy to carry or your Best Man?
Ask what ring boxes are available - we use fabulous made in New Zealand Rimu wooden ring boxes that can be personalised with your your names and wedding date - a stunning memento to present your rings at the wedding and then to use as a keepsake after the wedding.
One month before the big day
- Have a final fitting to be sure of the size.
- Collect the rings from your jeweller, then store in a very safe place until your wedding day.
